Community Districts – Did you know?
There are several community “districts” being promoted throughout the city, such as MidTown, Broad Ripple Village, BRAG, and the InterUrban District. These are areas of the city with unique character and plans in place to promote businesses, attract residents, and (perhaps most importantly) to enhance community connections that make a place “home.” What they all have in common is they are community led.
Districts are about place. Their value includes recognizing and promoting a community’s unique assets, as well as identifying improvements the community would like to work towards. With priorities clearly defined, a community can advocate those plans with the city, and tackle issues locally. A district’s plan is the vehicle in which a community and the city can work together.
Where does Nora fit in?
That is what the Nora Alliance is here to explore. Please join us to learn more about community-led districting efforts and provide your input towards a vision for Nora over the coming years.
We’ve launched the the initiative with this website dedicated to the Nora community – please share it with your friends and neighbors! We are committed to being open, welcoming, and transparent.
We’d like your input!
